Eyasu Mekonen
Eyasu has been working with FLS Law Office since August 2018. He is currently the office’s chief lawyer on Telecommunication and ICT, Banking and finance, Secured transaction and Non-profit related laws. Over the course of his more than 11 year career, Mr Eyasu has worked on various legal issues especially on Telecommunication and ICT related laws, secure transactions, consumer protection and procurement law in Ethiopia. The key to Eyasu’s success lies in his attention to detail, his ability to analyze and digest legal issues, and his ability to convey the relevant information to the client. Prior to Joining FLS Law Office, Eyasu was a senior associate with Tadesse Kiros Law Office, where he works as lead lawyer on ICT and Telecommunication, secure transaction and due diligence works. Mr Eyasu has also served as the Legal and Research department Head of INSA (Information Network Security Agency) for three years focusing on drafting ICT and Telecommunication related laws and has worked as Lecturer for six years at Wollega University. Mr. Eyasu is a Graduate of Law School from Haramaya University in LLB with distinction and LLM in Public International law from Addis Ababa University (as an outstanding student of that year).
Simret Zewdie
Simret is energy and public private partnership law attorney at FLS Law Office. Simret served as assistant lecturer of law at Mekelle University right after she completed her undergraduate studies. During her tenure at the University, she taught various courses and engaged in legal research on wide array of legal issues. Soon after obtaining her graduate degrees from University of Oslo in Norway, she returned to Ethiopia and joined a consulting company specialized in business and investment consultancy service. She worked as legal advisor of the company advising on various business and investment related issues. Equipped with comprehensive understanding of the business and investment climate of Ethiopia, she grew into one of high in demand business law professionals and joined one of the leading law offices in the country. Simret acted as legal lead of the energy department of the law office. In this capacity, she worked in the first Solar PV IPP project. She has been acting as the lead local attorney for the first IPP project in Ethiopia that is aimed at developing up to 500 MW electricity from a geothermal resource with a total project cost of 2 billion USD.
Fitsum Andargatchew
Fitsum is a senior corporate and business law Attorney at FLS. She started her career as a researcher at a local Think tank focusing on security issues in the horn of Africa. As a researcher she was able to cultivate her research and analytical skills. This experience has allowed her to better understand, resolve and put together complex and creative solutions for clients as a corporate lawyer. She returned to the field of law and started as a law clerk and rose to senior attorney at Tadesse Kiros law office where she worked with Multi-national Corporation, equity investors, foreign and local investors. She has assisted clients on day to day corporate legal matters as well as putting together multi-million dollar deals and agreements. Fitsum is also a member of our Alternative Dispute Resolution group. Having studied Mediation as part of her graduate studies, she has served as a volunteer Mediator at the San Diego small claims court.
